FOOTBALL players from an upper Gaunless Valley school have taken delivery of a new kit they designed themselves.
The new strips arrived at Woodland Primary School last week courtesy of the Premier League Primary Stars programme.
The pack included a full strip in a shade of blue they chose themselves.
Staff secured the strips through the kit and equipment scheme that forms part of the Premier League Primary Stars offered to schools in England and Wales
Delivered by the Football Foundation, the scheme gives teachers a range of equipment that can be used across different curriculum areas to get children active.
Also available is a free downloadable suite of resources for teachers across key stages one and two in English, Maths, PE and PSHE.
The materials have been developed in partnership with education organisations including the National Literacy Trust and PSHE Association.
Mathematician Rachel Riley and children’s authors Cressida Cowell and Dan Friedman also helped to create the teaching packs, which use real life sports examples to put lessons into a relevant and engaging context for children.
Woodland School headteacher Clare Carr said: “The team are so excited about the new kit. It makes them look really professional and I am sure that they will play with added enthusiasm and pride.”
The school won the Teesdale small primary schools league last season.
