AN upper dale agricultural charity is hosting a poignant farming-related play later this week.
New Perspectives Theatre will be staging Harvest at the offices of Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (Utass) on Friday, November 10.
The comedy tells the story of one rural family’s survival in a changing agricultural landscape, over generations of births, deaths, love and a lifetime of farming.
By 1914 Kilham Wold Farm – 82 acres of up and down near Driffield, East Yorkshire – had been in Harrison hands for 30 years, taken from a local landowner after unwittingly winning a wager.
With war now raging around them, brothers William and Alfred have to fight for their family’s survival against a rapidly changing world.
From the writer of the international hit One Man, Two Guvnors, Harvest was first performed at the Royal Court in September 2005.
For the first time, a six-strong ensemble present this sweeping rural saga, an epic story spanning the 20th century.
Tickets are available online or from the UTASS office and cost £10 for adults and £6 for children. Family tickets for two adults and two children cost £23.
A hot supper is included in the ticket price and will be served prior to the performance along with a licensed bar.
Doors open at 7pm.
