AN appeal for help on social media paid dividends for Barnard Castle U12s football team.
The youngsters started the season without a sponsor and were desperately looking for support.
“We were borrowing strips,” said coach Scott Denton.
Fortunately for the team, the appeal was seen by Zak Ahmed, of the town's Spice Island restaurant, and he stepped forward to help, supplying the players with new home and away kit and training tops.
Spice Island already sponsors another of the club's junior teams and Mr Ahmed said he was delighted to help out.
Mr Denton said the club was extremely grateful for the restaurant's sponsorship.
The 15-strong U12 squad plays in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance and have enjoyed a mixed start to the season, winning their first cup game and recording their first three points in the league last week.
