WHORLTON artist Jane Young is among a host of creative people who will be taking part in an annual Designer Makers Market at The Witham, in Barnard Castle, this month.
The market on Saturday, November 18, and Sunday, November 19, is an opportunity for people to watch demonstrations or take part in “have a go” sessions.
Ms Young said: “I am delighted to have been asked by Kathryn Guy, the event organiser, to take part and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to sell my work alongside 30 other talented craftspeople who will all be offering for sale original and contemporary work.”
In line with Designer Makers Market’s emphasis on selling unique handcrafted goods Ms Young will be selling work from her recent collection which includes paintings, jewellery bowls, pendants and cards.
The artist said: “My recent work has been inspired by my walks along the River Tees.
“As well as creating, exhibiting and selling my work I run three very busy art and craft classes in Scarth Hall, Staindrop, and Whorlton village each week.
“I also go into school art departments to run workshops and after school activities.”
Ms Young is also a member of the newly established Teesdale ArtNet.
A volunteer at The Witham gallery, she has been investigating the use of river stones, copper wire, fluid acrylics and inks combined with various mediums.
Admission to the Designer Makers Market is free but donations to St Teresa’s Hospice will be welcomed.
