Matt's back to keep the autumn laughs coming

THE cavalcade of comedy lined up for Barnard Castle this autumn continues this week with the visit of TV comic and presenter Matt Richardson.

He will bring his new show Slash to The Witham on Saturday, November 11, as part of a national tour.

A popular presenter and one of the country’s foremost young performers, he is no stranger to Barnard Castle comedy fans – although it’s been a while since his last visit to the dale.

Peter Dixon of show promoters Funny Way To Be Comedy Club, said: “The new show marks Matt’s first visit to the club in three years, having last performed in Barnard Castle on his debut Hometown Hero tour in 2014.

“He made his club debut the previous year, when he hosted the club's comedy gala alongside Mark Watson.”

Mr Dixon added: “We knew Matt was destined for big things when he first performed at the club four years ago. It’s an absolute pleasure to have him back and we’re looking forward to hearing what strange new tales he has in store for us.”

A multi-award winning stand-up comedian and one UK comedy’s fastest rising stars, Matt Richardson began his career in 2009 aged just 18 and soon made it through to the finals of two national stand-up competitions – the prestigious So You Think You’re Funny and the Chortle Student Comedy Award.

He also came runner up in the Reading Comedy Festival New Act of the Year and bagged the top spot in both the Newbury and Bath Comedy Festival new act competitions, all while still in his teens. Since then he has established himself as both an exciting comedian and a well-loved presenter. He currently hosts the drive-time show on Virgin Radio, and his TV credits include co-hosting the Xtra Factor alongside Caroline Flack, and presenting Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live.

He can also be seen as a series regular on the likes of Viral Tap, and Nevermind the Buzzcocks.

Tickets for the Barney show are £12 and are available now from funnywaytobe.com and The Witham box office. The show is suitable for ages 16-plus.
