Warning to farmers after theft of gates from land near Cockfield

POLICE are appealing to farmers to ensure gates are marked with their postcodes.
The warning follows an incident on land near Cockfield in which five metal gates were stolen sometime over night from Wednesday, December 21 into the early hours of Thursday, December 22.
Police say the gates were between ten and 12 feet long.
A force spokeswoman said: “We would encourage painting postcodes onto farm gates to discourage would-be thieves.”
Anyone with information of the theft, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the incident, should contact local police on the non-emergency number 101.
