Middleton-in-Teesdale school stocks up on some new reading

A BUMPER batch of new books has restocked a dale school library.
Middleton-in-Teesdale Primary School library was replenished with 43 new titles thanks to a £200 donation from the Stephen Mitchell Memorial Fund.
After the fund accepted its bid, the school can now boast works from CS Lewis to Anthony Horowitz for pupils to take home.
Teacher Vicki Oliver said the new books were very welcome.
She added: “It’s part of the curriculum and we want to give children a massive range of books to read to improve their literacy.
“Children like to take them away to read at home with parents. It’s a lovely gesture.”
Retired paramedic Nigel Mitchell helps look after the fund, set up in memory of his brother who died of a heart attack aged 52.
“We have been doing it for six years and given away just over £20,000,” he said.
“We like to give small amounts to lots of groups across the dale.”
