Volunteers hailed for exhibition efforts at The Bowes Museum

TEAMWORK: Heather Scott and Dianne Austin collect the award
HELPERS at The Bowes Museum were highly commended at the North East Museums Volunteers Awards during a ceremony held at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle.
The award was received for the team’s work in supporting the highly successful Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal exhibition, held at the museum in 2015.
Heather Scott and Dianne Austin were chosen to represent the friends and volunteer guides who supported museum staff at the exhibition. Jane Whittaker, the museum’s head of collections, said: “The volunteers each attended a training session.
“For the duration of the show, the stewards were asked to commit their time for half a day. Their dedication to the task was outstanding, almost every slot was filled, and many of them came back several times.
“The Bowes Museum is grateful to every one of the 45 volunteers who gave up their time to welcome visitors to the exhibition. The award is a fitting testimony to such a memorable event and it continues to be a pleasure to work with such wonderful ambassadors for the museum.”
