Children practise what school preaches with Christian values

A KINDHEARTED school has donated more than 40 gifts and presents to a Teesdale charity branch.
Pupils, parents and staff at Staindrop Primary School have collected an array of books, chocolates and cuddly toys for Barnard Castle Barnardo’s.
Jill Carnell, from the children’s charity, was overwhelmed when she saw the collection.
She said: “I think it’s absolutely fantastic – Barnardo’s is so thankful. It would be fantastic if other schools could do it as well.”
Deputy headteacher Janet Boyd said the haul played a part in the school’s spring term theme.
“We take a Christian value for each term and this time it’s generosity,” she said. “The children are reflecting on ways they can demonstrate this through their actions and words – it’s not just about the gifts, it’s about being generous with their time as well.”
Head boy Daniel Vickers added: “We think other people would love these as much as we did.”
