LIVE music, choirs, soloists and bands were a major feature of a dale church's Christmas tree festival.
St Mary’s, in Barnard Castle held its biennial Christmas tree festival of five days from last Wednesday and culminated in a grand wassail on Sunday.
Thirty dozen bottles of the bitter were produced for the occasion.
The church had a special “Ale Mary” beer brewed for the wassail that saw groups perform folk carols.
School choirs, a harpist and folk groups provided entertainment during the week.
Music groups who performed included Cream Tees, Teesdale Folk, Grace Notes and St Mary's Community Music Group,
Staindrop School's Musikality ukulele group also took to the stage. Some 50 six-feet Christmas trees decorated by sponsors filled the church and visitors were challenged to take part in a quiz to find the ten trees that followed a musicals theme. A special bereavement tree was set up for people to remember their loved ones.
A grand draw saw one lucky person walk away with £100 while others won hampers and Christmas gifts. The church hoped to raise £3,000 from the festival.
