YOUNG gymnasts have received a cash boost to help cover burgeoning costs.
Barnard Castle Gymnastics Club received £500 at town charity The Clique's annual presentation evening – with the promise of more to follow from the group.
Further support came in the form of £200 from the GMB trade union, while another £600 was raised during a club fundraiser.
The club’s fundraising efforts are being co-ordinated by a recently-formed friends group.
Becca Kesterton, a member of the friends committee, said the cash would help cover the cost of equipment and attending competitions. This includes everything from leotards and tracksuits for the club's young members to covering the costs of judges at competitions.
