Events on the day were moved into the village hall and with the forecast looking glum all afternoon, the organisers were preparing to call of the parade altogether. But right on cue, a break in the weather meant the procession could go ahead as planned at 1pm.
Rosie Bettison, show secretary, said: “We’ve had to cancel the marching band and little things like not having the plate smashing on the field make a difference. It costs nothing to organise but brings in about £80 for us.”
Better weather on Sunday allowed the sports day and other activities to take place.

Nine to 11 years: 1, Heidi Luck, Puss in Boots form Shrek; 2, Gracie Perkins, Scarecrow; 3, Rosie Redmond,Cat in the Hat.
Sixteen and over: 1, Gary Luck, Shrek; 2, Tracy Luck, Princess Fiona from Shrek; 3, Pete White, Pirate.
Small group: 1, Ellie and Grace Perkins, Charlotte Straughan, Sophie Jenson, Wizard of Oz; 2, Gary, Tracy, Heidi and Emily Luck, Shrek; 3, Ben and Nathan Williams, Spiderman & Batman.
Large group; 1, Bowes Pre-School, Minions.
