A TASTE of folk north of the border will be on offer at a dale village hub.
Acclaimed guitarist Dave Gibb will be dropping into Dalton and Gayles Village Hall on Friday, June 16.
The singer songwriter from Wanlockhead, in Dumfries and Galloway, will offer punters some of the sounds of Scotland’s highest village.
An established performer on the folk and festival scene, the left-handed Scot will play traditional favourites alongside contemporary numbers in his own storytelling style.
Organiser and chairman of the village hall committee Jim Sadler said Mr Gibb was a “superb” guitarist and was looking forward to his third appearance at the hall.
Mr Sadler added: “He has been on the scene for the best part of 20 years and has been a frequent visitor to this area.
“He has a range of music – anything from blues to his own rather fascinating humorous songs.
“He is primarily a song writer and a phenomenal guitarist.”
Mr Gibb draws inspiration from the finger picking styles of the heroes with Rory Gallagher, Paul Simon and blues icon Lead Belly as his just a few of his influences.
Not averse to engaging with his audience, Mr Gibb is known to call on Morecambe and Wise favourites and get punters to sing once in a while.
Mr Sadler added: “The first time we had him come along we had a full hall. The second time we were affected by an event in Richmond but this time I think we have a clear run.
“We have some events in the summer to come yet. We have had other live bands – a five piece band from Catterick called REME and in the past we’ve had Henry Priestman.
“For a small village hall we've had quite a few events.”
Tickets cost £8 for adults and £5 for under 16s while the evening starts at 8pm.
