PENSIONER Gladys Sparks showed age is no barrier at this year’s Barnard Castle Meet carnival.
The 99-year-old entered this year’s parade with five generations of her family as Mary Poppins. She has taken part many times and in many guises over the years, since first attending in 1922.
Her efforts were rewarded at a special presentation in her home, at Charles Dickens Lodge, when she received flowers, certificate and cup from the organisers of Barnard Castle’s annual big event.
