Dog team will get Mickleton carnival off to a flying start

THIS year’s Mickleton Carnival is off to a flying start – even before the fun-filled afternoon has taken place.
Carnival organisers will welcome back the Teesdale Flyball Team after a two-year absence.
The popular dog sport features fast paced action as teams of pooches race over hurdles.
The Teesdale club was recently featured on  Channel 4’s Walks with Dogs, when members were joined by presenter Helen Skelton and her dog Barney.
The duo joined club members for a winter training session to see for themselves why the sport is so popular among do owners.
Visitors to Mickleton Carnival on Saturday, June 3, will also see the owners and their dogs go through their paces during the afternoon.
The carnival fun starts at 1pm with a fancy dress for all age groups plus the parade and judging.
There will also be a magic show, Punch & Judy, fun and games, children’s races, stalls and raffles, afternoon teas and ice-creams and a special return of the Mickleton Tug of War, with teams of eight invited to register on the day.
After the afternoon’s fun, there will be a family disco and barbecue on the village field from 7pm to 10.30pm.
