HE’S a double Grammy winner, has played with some of the biggest names in music, is universally acknowledged as one of the best guitarists to have taken to the stage – and he’ll be back at Mickleton on Saturday night.
For this latest visit, Albert Lee will be accompanied by JT Thomas on keyboards, Will McGregor on bass and drummer Jason Harrison Smith.
His show at Mickleton Village Hall comes towards the end of a 26-date UK tour.
Co-writer of Country Boy and composer of many other great songs, he has played on countless sessions worldwide during a 50-year career.
He has appeared and recorded with an eclectic roster of musicians such as Glen Campbell, Dave Edmunds, Dolly Parton, Bobby Bare and Joan Armatrading.
A notable sideman for Eric Clapton, Albert Lee celebrated his 70th birthday in 2015 with two sell out concerts took place at the Cadogan Hall, in London, when a host of stars and friends took to the stage with him.
Support on the night will come from members of Phantom Voices – who headlined the most recent Mickleton Live night.
Mike Rolland, Jo Byrne, Daz Rice and Richard Curran are coming across, however, bassist Jim Shea and drummer Mark Mitchell are not making the trip this time.
Mr Rolland said they had enjoyed a great time at Mickleton and the musicians were looking forward to coming over again. He promised a similar set – albeit one with a slightly differently feel without bass and drums.
Tickets for the show are at a premium, but to check availability, contact Sue Brown on 01833 640854.
