Darlington singer-songwriter Hayley McKay aims to win new fans with Barnard Castle gig

AN up and coming singer-songwriter, who has supported the likes of Tom Jones and wowed audiences at Glastonbury, is set to take to the stage in Barnard Castle.
Hayley McKay, from Darlington, will perform at The Witham on Saturday, March 25, following the release of her debut single, Unspoken, back in December.
Ms McKay, who plays with a full band, offers a new genre with a difference combining pop, electro and country music.
In 2011, Ms McKay won a national competition that funded a scholarship to study vocals at the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in Brighton.
From there she graduated to an artist development course in London with Access to Music whose former alumni includes Ed Sheeran, Jess Glynne and Rita Ora.
By 2016, the talented vocalist had already performed at the Glastonbury Festival and at Nashville.
Having captivated audiences at a number of renowned venues, Ms McKay has supported high profile names including Tom Jones, Scouting For Girls, Jamie Cullum, Bryan Ferry, Seal and Tony Christie.
Last year she also performed at Ronnie Scott’s, The Bedford, Islington’s O2 Academy and The Half Moon in London.
