WORK of budding artists from six primary schools will take pride of place in a special exhibition.
Prints by pupils of Ramshaw Primary School and five other dale schools will be part of a display at The Bowes Museum – inspired by artist Martin Clarke and his Shelf Life exhibition.
Children got the chance to get their hands dirty preparing their prints alongside professional artist Vicky Holbrough. As well as using their creative muscles, the project has also helped children learn about Alzheimer’s disease with all pupils getting the chance to become “dementia friends”.
Ramshaw class teacher Linda Flatter said the project had been going on for the past couple of years.
Ms Flatter added: “We looked at dementia awareness and heard how it affects lives – an author was here last time and the way she explained how people with dementia face problems was really good.”
The completed framed quilt will be displayed in the museum before being given to the individual schools.
The museum will host a free celebratory event for families to view the completed artwork on February 11.
