A British racing driver made a pit stop at Staindrop Primary School to give youngsters an insight into life in the fast lane.
Nigel Moore, of Tockwith Motor Sports, made a special visit accompanied by one of the team’s latest cars – the Ligier JSP2.
The 25-year-old racing champion was also joined by a member of the pit crew, Paul Franklin, whose daughter attends the school’s nursery.
Mr Franklin, of Selaby, runs Teesside Karting with his wife Kate and suggested bringing the car into school so the children could see it up close.
He said: “We have just done a championship in Asia and Rosie had been telling people at school about it and so it went from there. They have loved it. It is something different for them.”
Having won the championship in Asia, Tockwith Motor Sports has gained automatic entry into Le Mans 24 hours race in June, which they say is the Formula One equivalent for endurance racing.
Last November, Tockwith Motor Sports also won the Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship with an Audi R8 LMS GT.
Mr Moore said: “I have done motor sports from a young age and when I was at primary school I was interested in it then. This is a test of the new car which we are going to be using this year. It is great to bring it in to show the children.”
