Students celebrate strong set of A Level results across Teesdale

TEESDALE sixth forms were celebrating success in this year's A-levels, with student achieving some excellent results.

At Teesdale School and Sixth Form 100 per cent of students who intended to go on to university have achieved their grades and secured their places.

In the year that has seen the school join the North East Learning Trust, students have continued to perform highly delivering a set of results to be proud of with 100 per cent pass rates in all subjects.

Dr Janice Gorlach, executive headteacher said: “We are delighted with the results and are so proud of our students who have worked hard to achieve them.

“The students’ results are a testament to their ability combined with hard work, the support of their families and the dedication of our teaching staff.”

Clare Ellis, headteacher, added: “I’m particularly thrilled for students who have performed exceptionally well in their vocational qualifications.

“Amongst the many high grades there were three candidates who achieved between them, ten distinction starred grades, the highest possible that can be awarded.”

Barnard Castle School enjoyed a strong set of results, with more than half of A Level students awarded A*-B grades.

At Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, the A Level pass rate was 99.2 per cent .

The college recorded with a high grade rate (A*, A and B grades) of more than 57 per cent, while 29 students attained four A*/A grades with a further 51 students being awarded 3 A*/As.

Principal Tim Fisher said: “These tremendous results are the product of a huge amount of hard work by students and staff at QE.

“Our students thoroughly deserve their success and can now look forward to very bright and rewarding futures.”
