LAUGHTER fans can start the autumn with a smile thanks to the first visit to Teesdale of funnyman Paul Chowdhry.
Following his 100 date, sell-out 2015 tour, the popular TV comic is to bring his brand new show to Barnard Castle this autumn.
The London-born comedian and actor will perform his highly anticipated new stand-up show Paul Chowdhry: Live Innit at The Witham on Friday, September 8. Tickets are now on-sale for £20. Having started as a stand-up comedian on London’s small circuits, he has built an incredibly strong audience with two national tours to date.
The first, What’s Happening White People, cemented his place in British mainstream comedy and led to him being offered a DVD deal with Universal Pictures.
Recorded at a sold-out Hammersmith Apollo, the show reached number five in the charts and was subsequently aired on Channel 4 three times.
His most recent tour, PC’s World, was extended three times due to audience demand, performing to 100,000 people nationwide.
Promoter Peter Dixon, of the Funny Way To Be Comedy Club, said: “Paul Chowdhry’s two previous tours have been massively popular, so we’re really excited to have him perform at Funny Way To Be.
“Anyone who’s caught him on TV knows to expect smart, sharp observations and cutting edge gags.
“We can’t wait to see what he’s got up his sleeve in his new show.”
Mr Dixon added: “An electrifying performer, he tackles subjects such as race, relationships and modern Britain with confidence and occasional, hilarious brutality.”
A regular face on British television, the comedian has appeared on Dave’s Taskmaster, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Very British Problems, and hosted the final series of Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week.
He has also performed two headline slots on BBC2’s Live at the Apollo, and played Channel 4’s prestigious Comedy Gala at the O2 Arena for four consecutive years.
