THE Bowes Museum’s famous silver swan automaton took a back seat this summer as real birds of prey took centre stage for a family fun day.
The Wild Birds event at the museum featured the Walworth Castle Birds of Prey team who impressed with flying displays by falcons, owls and hawks.
The display in the museum grounds had children enthralled as they created a tunnel which the birds flew through, while others lay on the ground while an Indian eagle owl skimmed over them.
Apart from the birds of prey, families were also entertained by Jay’s Animal Adventures and could take part in bird themed crafts.
