A WEEK-long festival which offers children the chance to experience top class theatre productions is visiting Barnard Castle.
TakeOff Festival takes place between October 16 and 22 and features a variety of performances aimed at young theatregoers staged in venues across the county.
As part of the festival, which is produced by Darlington-based Theatre Hullabaloo, a performance of Little Red Riding Hood will be staged at The Witham by the Italian company La Baracca. The show is aimed at children aged three to eight and the performance begins at 1.30pm on Thursday, October 19.
Miranda Thain, creative producer at Theatre Hullabaloo, said the show was part of an exceptional programme of world class theatre for children and young people to enjoy. She added: “2017 marks the 30th anniversary of TakeOff Festival and we will be celebrating with companies from Mexico, Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, Iceland and the UK. This year’s programme of over 90 performances promises to be full of delights and surprises.”
The full festival programme can be viewed at www.takeoff festival.org.uk. The festival concludes with the TakeOff Family Day on Saturday, October 21, in Durham city centre when there will be 15-plus performances, storytelling, installations, arts and crafts, street theatre and much more.
