Underwear and roller blinds – Staindrop Scouts unearth all sorts in clean-up operation

STAINDROP Cubs went on a litter pick and found a little more than they bargained for.
The children covered the whole of Staindrop collecting bags of rubbish – including roller blinds and even people’s underwear. Durham County Council loaned the group pickers, high visibility vests and hoops to ensure everyone’s safety.
Jacqui Nicholson, Group Scout leader, said: “This is just part of Staindrop Scouts commitment to their local community. In May they are visiting a local care home to entertain the residents, and leading MP Helen Goodman blindfold around the village to highlight issues with pavement parking.
“On June 18, they will host the Staindrop Great Get Together, where the whole village is invited to join the Scouts with their neighbours to help stop loneliness.”
Staindrop Scouts are in need of two leaders to help the expanding section because two have had to take a break in service to attend universities.
