Laura chosen as this year's Middleton-in-Teesdale carnival queen

MIDDLETON-in-Teesdale’s carnival queen has been selected.
The Middleton-in-Teesdale Carnival Queen Disco was held at the primary school last month and the turnout was described as “great”.
The carnival committee said there was huge cheer when the announcement was made.
Laura Thompson, 11, will be this year’s Carnival queen.
She  drew out the names of her attendants from a ballet. There will be Poppy Kindleyside, who will have her fourth birthday on carnival day, and Shannon Hague, who will also celebrate her sixth birthday during the event on Saturday, August 5.
Eileen Dent, carnival chairwoman, said: “I was just so pleased with how it all went at the disco. Everyone was excited to see who was Carnival Queen and who would be the attendants.”
