THE Tory candidate who contested the Bishop Auckland seat in 2015 has been chosen to take on sitting MP Helen Goodman again on June 8.
After being the unanimous pick of the constituency Conservative Association, Chris Adams said: “We need an MP who is from the North East and will stand up for the North East. As Theresa May’s candidate for Bishop Auckland, it is time ordinary, working people here have a strong Conservative voice to represent them.”
Mr Adams grew up in Barton and Richmond. He comes from a business background and founded a technology company, working with brands like Holiday Inn, British Gas and Admiral Insurance. He is also a former youth rugby player in County Durham and raises funds for mental health charities.
If elected, he said is priorities were to boost jobs and growth in South Durham, take urgent action to save local town centres and campaign to protect services at Darlington Memorial Hospital and Bishop Auckland General Hospital.
“It’s a huge honour to be the Conservative candidate for Bishop Auckland once again and I relish the campaign ahead,” he said.
“This election can help us get the strong and stable leadership we need to see us through Brexit and beyond. As we negotiate through Brexit, every vote for the Conservatives in this election will strengthen the UK’s position to help Theresa May secure the best deal.”
