Fundraising efforts got underway in Eggleston earlier this month in preparation for the annual village carnival.
A great day was had by all who turned out to support the family fun day organised by the carnival committee in the village hall last week.
Carnival committee secretary Suzanne Herbert said: “This is a fundraising event for the carnival. We do it more or less every year. We used to do it at Easter but then we decided to do it on May Day.”
The hall was filled with stalls showcasing an array of goodies including refreshments and a tombola.
Young and old were kept entertained with games in the hall. Visitors also had the chance to take part in a treasure hunt which led them on a journey through the village. Children were encouraged to take part in a ‘design a garden on a plate’ competition.
Ms Herbert said: “It is a way of raising funds for the carnival. It is quite an expensive event to put on with insurance and other things. This goes towards that and all of the other events we put on through the year.”
The fun day was rounded off with a performance by the Rumold morris dancers on the village green.
