Award winning folk duo aim to play up a storm in Barnard Castle

THE 2016 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners for best duo will be showcasing their music in Barnard Castle this week.
Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman will play at The Witham on Friday, May 5, as part of a 12-week tour across the country.
They are playing in support of their new eight track EP entitled Saved for a Rainy Day.
Ms Roberts said the EP features some fan favourites.
“Over the last few years there have been several cover songs we have performed live and never got round to recording,” she said.
“Along with a couple of our own originals that didn’t fit with our previous releases, these have often been requested on CD and, subsequently, Saved For A Rainy Day has become a limited edition of rarities.”
Now firmly established as one of the folk-scene’s busiest and most respected duos, the husband and wife team will also preview new material that will feature on their next full album.
The show starts at 8pm and tickets are available for £13 in advance or £15 on the door. Contact the box office on 01833 631107 or go to www. thewitham.org.uk.
