Three virtuoso musicians hailed as Canada’s “hottest guitar ensemble” cross the waters to play an intimate concert in Cotherstone this week.
The Montreal Guitar Trio comprise Marc Morin, Sébastien Dufour and Glenn Lévesque. They will play Cotherstone Village Hall tonight, Thursday, May 4.
For more than 15 years, the trio’s virtuosity, rigour, creativity and impressive stage presence have been winning over audiences around the world.
They have collaborated and shared the stage with world-renowned ensembles and artists, such as the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec and have played at prestigious venues from BB King Blues Club in New York, to the legendary Concertgebouw, in Amsterdam.
Their show in Cotherstone is part of the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme.
Highlights’ partnership with Canada’s Contact East allows the scheme to bring some of the best artists from the eastern provinces of North America to rural Durham.
In a mixed musical menu, the trio play classical, jazz and world music pieces, with a few rock classics and spaghetti westerns – as well as some recognisable covers adapted for three guitars.
Alongside, the trio play some of their own original material and music from their sixth and latest album Der Prinz.
Chris Best, promoter at Cotherstone Village Hall, said: “Although this show is on a Thursday evening, not the ideal time for a night out, we are so lucky to get these three that I do hope people come to enjoy them. They are amazing.”
Tickets are £8 adults, £4 children and £20 families. Contact 01833 650827 for more details.
