RABY Castle’s “remarkable” cricket ground contributes to the visitor experience of the park and grounds, the club's cricketers were told.
A special presentation was organised to celebrate the cricket club’s unprecedented success in the Darlington and District league this season.
As part of the event, club secretary Steve Caygill presented their patron Lord Barnard with a copy of the book Remarkable Cricket Grounds, which features Raby Castle along with others from around the globe.
Lord Barnard said: “I know how much my late father valued the cricket club, and in a short time I have come to realise that this is a great position for the club to be here, but great for Raby to have you here.
“It adds to the whole park and visitor experience.”
Thanking the club for the gift, he added: “I am looking forward to seeing what I suspect is a ground better than the others.”
He added his own congratulations to the club, which won the Darlington and District League A division title, the A division cup, the Cec Leece Trophy and the F B Howell Trophy.
