FANS of live music in the dale are in for a treat this weekend with a swiftly arranged performance by New York-based Ben Arthur.
The singer-songwriter has been a regular visitor to Teesdale over the years, clocking up appearances in village halls at Cotherstone (twice), Mickleton (three times) and Stainton.
On Saturday, he will appear at Eggleston Village Hall. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and those attending are welcome to take drinks and nibbles.
Promoter Steve Brown explained that the chance to arrange the gig came about as the Emmy-nominated artist is in Europe promoting his latest album, American Castles.
“He is doing a promotional tour of mainly radio stations. We thought the chance to organise something here was too good to miss,” he said.
“He will be playing songs from his new album and some favourites too.”
Among the highlights of American Castles is a song composed almost entirely of direct quotes from Donald Trump’s former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
He described the music on American Castles as “answer songs” responding to other artists’ work.
Live work has seen him share the stage with the likes of Tori Amos, Bruce Hornsby and Dave Matthews.
