If you went down to the woods today... you were in for a Santa surprise

THERE was festive fun aplenty when Teesdale AC held its annual Santa run in the grounds of The Bowes Museum and Barnard Castle School this morning.
Dozens of runners entered into the spirit of the event.
A 1k elf run for younger athletes preceded the main event, a 5k dash.
Although not a competitive race, the first Santas home were Jonathan Hann and Josh Mawer, both from the host club.
First female home was Shona Haston, another Teesdale AC runner.
Proceeds from this year's event are going to Teesdale Lions Club, whose members turned out to to help steward the event.
Full report and more pictures in this coming week's Mercury
