Gainford's star shines brightly over villagers

GAINFORD’S Christmas Star will be lit atop St Mary’s Parish Church throughout the Christmas period until January 6.
It is a star of hope and comfort – a star of thanksgiving and remembrance for those who have lit up our lives but have departed their earthly lives.
Gainford’s residents and their families have been invited to dedicate dates during this period in memory of their loved ones.
Bellringer Sue Gowling said: “It’s lovely. We see it as we walk out on the green each evening.”
Resident Patrick Orme sees it each night as he steps out from his front door. He remarked: “We feel blessed. It’s reminds us that the whole village is blessed as the star shines over us all.”
Vicar Revd Eileen Harrop thanks parishioner Steve White and churchwardens Geoff and Sue Taylor who made the star and co-ordinated its installation.
It has received many welcome comments and we hope the star will shine every Advent and Christmas to come.
