Cockfield shoebox appeal aids disadvantaged children

PUPILS in Cockfield spared a thought for others by collecting items for disadvantaged children.
The idea of filling shoeboxes at Cockfield Primary School came from the children themselves.
Teacher Fay Gregson said: “I run the pupil task force, which made up of a group of children who do all sorts of events. They came up with the suggestion that for Christmas we would do a shoebox appeal.”
The children put up posters and took an assembly to get everyone to rally round and donate Christmas gifts. Collections were carried  for girls and boys of primary school age and the shoeboxes will be donated to charity this week.
“They’ve done so well and it’s helped them think of others,” added Ms Gregson.
The children are pictured in their nativity costumes.
