Family fun at Bowlees visitor centre – and a visit from Santa

ONCE again Father Christmas will be taking a break from his workshop in the North Pole to pay a visit to Teesdale when he is the guest of honour at the Winter Wonderland event at Bowlees Visitor Centre.
The two-day spectacular will be taking place on December 10 and 11 and as well as the man in red, there will be a whole host of festive family-friendly activities.
Alongside a seasonal menu served up by Cafe Fresh, there will be all kinds of Christmas crafts running over both days, plus face painting and a wintery woodland trail through the grounds.
Kaye Jemmeson, from the North Pennines AONB Partnership which runs the centre, said: “It’s always a great weekend and this year we’re pulling out all the stops to make it extra special as we had to cancel last year’s because of Storm Desmond.
“We’re expecting Father Christmas will be looking forward to it as much as we are because I know he loves the North Pennines and he missed coming to see everyone.”
The grotto will be open from noon until 3.30pm and booking is essential to avoid disappointment. The cost is £5 for every child and that includes all activities, a visit to the grotto and a gift.
