Since its formation in 2012, the 1st Middleton-in-Teesdale Scout Group has proved increasingly popular with upper dale youngsters.
The pack now includes a Beavers, Cubs and a Scouts section.
Some of the Scouts started back in the day as Beavers and are now working hard towards the Chief Scout Gold Award, the highest award they are able to achieve.
As part of the Chief Scout Gold Award, the Scouts have to undertake a number of challenges and learn new skills.
One of the challenges is to take part in a sailing challenge and learn the basic techniques required to control a boat safely.
John Backes, Scout Leader at 1st Middleton-in-Teesdale Scouts, said: “It's fantastic that our Scouts can benefit from such a variety of amazing activities in the region.
“I am very pleased with the great support from the Teesdale Sailing and Watersports Club for allowing our Scouts to use their facilities and making it a great day out.”
Trevor Thurlow, sailing club secretary, added: “We are a community focused club and are keen to support the local community and its young people in particular.”
Mr Backes said: "We are pleased to confirm that all 12 Scouts successfully completed their level 1 sailing badge and a number of activities towards their Adventure Challenge Award.
“Some of our Scouts even completed their level 2 Sailing badge, having mastered recovering their boat from a capsize.”
The 1st Middleton-in-Teesdale Scout Group will soon break up for the summer holidays and will return in September.
