A SERIES of fundraising activities undertaken by estate agency staff culminated with the presentation of a cheque for almost £1,900.
The money was raised by the GSC Grays Charity Fundraising Committee and handed over to the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team.
Last September, a GSC Grays team undertook an epic Tees Charity Challenge relay, walking non-stop for 72 miles from Cow Green Reservoir to the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge in about 28 hours.
This challenge, alongside other staff events, raised nearly £4,000 for GSC Grays chosen charities for 2016/17, and has been divided equally between Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue and Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Gabrielle Damaszk, collected the cheque on behalf of Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue at the new GSC Grays Professional Services office, on Colburn Business Park.
Director David Cooper, who chairs the GSC Grays Fundraising Committee, said: “We were joined on the walk by some of the Teesdale and Weardale Mountain Rescue.
“They really do deserve our support as one day it could be one of us or our family members they are looking for. We also hadn’t appreciated the amount of work they do in urban areas not to mention the work they do on the moors. Huge thanks also has to go to all those that mucked in and assisted with all the fundraising activities we have carried out over the last 12 months.”
In addition, the annual rugby match which sees the GSC Grays Agricultural XV take on Wensleydale Rugby Club to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Research, raised more than £3,000.
