Customers at Langdon Beck Hotel were asked to offer up their best Yorkshire puddings on Sunday to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. There were three categories – plain, savoury and sweet.
Sue Matthews, of Langdon Beck Hotel, said: “Imaginations ran riot with some pizza and quiche versions in the savoury category and white chocolate and raspberry in the sweet.”
The winners were – plain: Bill Short; savoury: Pauleen Short; and sweet: Becky Stephenson. Overall champion was Pauleen Short with her savoury pud. Mrs Matthews added: “Customers enjoyed extra Yorkshires with their Sunday lunch and many took some home for later, raising in excess of £200. Thanks go to all our bakers and buyers for offering, as always, such enthusiastic support.”
