Pupils record song to help poorly Finley

Talented youngsters have hit all the right notes to help a dale father get his five-year-old son to America for life-changing treatment.
Leeds-based vocal coach Melody Reed penned the song Lucky Stars, which will be used to help Finley Ingles who has a rare and inoperable brain tumour.
Finley’s dad, John Charles, of Staindrop, embarked on a fundraising mission in September to help raise the £150,000 needed for his son to undergo the state-of-the-art procedure, which is only available in Arizona and Texas.
Mr Charles and his partner, Becky Toft, approached Cherie’s Melody singing academy in Guiseley, Leeds, to see if they could help out. She knew Ms Reed and her sister, Cherie, from when she was a child. A group of 25 youngsters aged between four and 14 put on their best voices to sing and record the song.
Ms Reed said: “I wrote the song Lucky Stars for our Turn Up The Talent children to sing and record to raise money for Children in Need.
“Out of the blue we received a Facebook message from Becky asking for help as she knew we were both singers and was hoping there was something we could do event-wise to help I guess.”
Mr Charles discovered that Finley had a hypothalamic harmatoma back in June. The youngster, who lives in Middlesbrough with his mum, now suffers from severe epilepsy, gelastic seizures, endocrine problems, darcrystic seizures and tonic-clonic seizures.
He also has learning difficulties, developmental delays and rage attacks.
Despite undergoing a number of different treatments, laser ablation surgery is now Finley’s only hope.
The track will be sold online for £3. From every sale, £1 will go towards Finley’s fund and the remaining £2 will be donated to Children in Need.
Ms Toft said: “The support they have given is amazing and for the children to sing the song knowing that it was to help Finley is out of this world.”
