Tasty cash boost for Stainton Grove lunch club

A HARVEST festival fundraiser has given a lifeline dale club a welcome cash boost.

Barnard Castle Prep School gave £209.15 to Stainton Grove Lunch Club as part of their autumn charity efforts.

The club offers a three course meal for dale residents, who are often elderly, and gives them somewhere to socialise.

Lunch club volunteer Michael Carr was thrilled with the donation.

He added: “We are absolutely delighted they’ve chosen us to support. When we go out on trips it means we can keep costs for our members down.”

The donation was part of wider school efforts for harvest time which included 196 bags of food being given to the Barnard Castle food bank and flowers gifted to Charles Dickens Lodge.
