Jail for upper Teesdale woman who stabbed victim with a butcher's knife

JAILED: Gemma Walton
AN upper dale woman who stabbed her ex-lover's wife with a butcher's knife has been jailed for 40 months.

Gemma Walton, of Bowlees Cottages, near Newbiggin, was jailed at Durham Crown Court this morning (June 6) after pleading guilty to wounding with intent, having a bladed article and affray.

The 35-year-old stabbed her victim on June 2 last year after becoming embroiled in an argument with her ex-partner and his estranged wife at McFarlane's Butchers Shop, in Middleton-in-Teesdale.

The court heard how Walton pulled the hair of her victim and attempted to bite her, before re-entering the shop on Market Place, picking up a six inch blade and stabbing her in the left arm.

Judge Christopher Prince said Walton had “lost control of herself entirely”.
