Sponsors sought for Barnard Castle bloom scheme

A SPONSORSHIP scheme for hanging baskets is seeking more donors for the summer.
The hanging basket tree on Galgate, in Barnard Castle, gathered seven sponsors last year to pay for its upkeep.
Now town councillor Roger Peat is trying to build on the success of last year’s baskets to raise money for flower beds around the town.
He said: “We can put a plaque on in memory of somebody.
“There are 12 pots available – the money from this will mean we can buy more plants for the town.”
Each £25 donation gets a plaque with the name of a business or loved one on one of the 12 baskets.
To sponsor a basket, contact Barnard Castle Town Council on 01833 690970.
