Edingburgh Fringe-bound duo warm up with Barnard Castle gig

A PAIR of Edinburgh bound comedians will stop off in Barney on the way.
John Kearns and Lauren Pattison will perform their new Fringe shows at The Witham on Saturday, June 24.
John Kearns made comedy history in 2014 when he was awarded the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award just a year after gaining the best newcomer award at Edinburgh, the only comic ever to do so.
An actor, writer comedian, and former guide at the Houses of Parliament, he has written and performed in his own BBC Radio 4 series.
He has also written for Harry Hill, Russell Howard, Aardman Studios and the Bafta winning Psychobitches.
In 2015 he played the lead role in the cult BBC Three sitcom Top Coppers.
Joining him in Barnard Castle is Lauren Pattison who will perform her highly-anticipated debut hour.
A finalist in the BBC New Comedy Award 2016, she also came runner-up at the Funny Women Awards 2014, and in 2015 was the only female comedian to reach the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Awards.
Fresh from supporting Katherine Ryan on several tour dates, she has also opened for Stewart Francis, appeared at the Latitude and Leeds festivals, and in 2015 took her 45 minute work-in-progress show Reet Petite to the Edinburgh Festival.
Promoter Peter Dixon said: “We’re very excited to be offering a sneak peek at two shows which are sure to go down a storm at the Fringe.
“It’s a rare occasion when John Kearns performs in the North, so we’re delighted to be offering a chance for fans to see this critically-acclaimed comedian.
“A wonderfully promising comic, Lauren previously joined us last year, and we’re looking forward to seeing what she’s out together for her debut hour.”
Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the door. See funny waytobe.com. The show is suitable for ages 16-plus.
