Fundraiser to support Three Valleys riders' bid for national glory

AN equestrian fundraising day is being held to help cover the costs of riders attending a prestigious national event early next month.

The Three Valleys Riding Club will be well represented at the British Horse Society NAF National Championships at the Lincolnshire Showground on September 2 and 3.

Four senior teams, five junior teams and five individuals from the club – which draws its members from Swaledale, Teesdale and Weardale – will pit their showjumping, dressage and riding skills against the best in the UK.

To help cover the costs of taking part in the championships, an Arena Show Cross and novelty dog show will be held at Richmond Equestrian Centre on Saturday, August 12.

Starting at 10am, the full day event will feature show cross classes from 50cm to 100cm plus pairs classes at 60cm and 80cm over cross country jumps. Showjumping will be indoors; cross country outside. Pre-entry is £20; entry on the day is £25.

Entries for the novelty dog classes is £3 and will be taken on the day.

In addition, there is a bottle tombola and cake raffle.

The event is being supported by a number of local companies who are sponsoring classes and providing prizes, while the equestrian centre is donating the cost of hire.

Anyone interested in entering should go online to register at www.horsevents.co.uk/information/eventdetails.asp?event=28849.
