COMMUNITY groups in Cockfield have got off to the best possible start to the new year thanks to their local Co-op store.
Staff at the shop rallied together to organise raffles and other fundraisers last year and raised £300.
They decided to split the cash three ways, with the village’s M ethodist Chapel, St Mary’s Church and Cockfield Christmas Lights Committee all benefitting.
Co-op store manager Naila Laundy said: “It’s a real community effort.
We have the raffles internally and the community supports it.”
Christine Watters, of the Christmas lights committee, said: “Just to say a huge thank you to the manager and staff for holding their raffles for everyone in the community.”
