New website to promote Barnard Castle Christmas festival

ORGANISERS of Barnard Castle’s Christmas Festival have launched a website, giving visitors information about what’s on between December 13 and 17.

The concept was developed by The Bowes Museum, The Witham and The Hub.

Events already listed include The Bowes Museum’s traditional Christmas market, exhibitions, film, theatre and music. Other partners taking part include Funny Way to Be Comedy Club.

The website is also promoting the town’s businesses with listings for Christmas shopping, where to stay and food and drink.

It is hoped this will encourage visitors to events to stay longer in the town. Additional events will be announced later.

One issue the creators of the website say they have encountered is a lack of “high quality photography” of the town at Christmas.

Rachael Fletcher, from The Bowes Museum said: “While we have plenty of festive images of the museum, we’ve struggled to find images of the town itself that we can use to attract visitors to come to the festival. If any members of the public have images we could use, we would be really grateful if they would get in touch.”

Businesses which want to be listed can visit www.barnardcastlechristmasfestival.co.uk
