All Blacks legend Zinzan Brooke helps Barnard Castle rugby club

A RUGBY legend dropped into Barnard Castle to help the town’s rugby club.

Barnard Castle Rugby Club held a fundraising sportsman’s dinner, hosted by Barnard Castle School.

The main guest was the former All Blacks rugby star Zinzan Brooke.

Brooke made 100 appearances for the All Blacks and kicked an infamous drop goal against England in the 1995 World Cup. The host for the night was radio presenter John Myers and the audience enjoyed an inspirational speech from Brook

They took the opportunity to quiz him about his rugby life. Brooke’s speech was followed by a performance of the impressionist and comedian Kevin Connelly.

More than 200 people attended the dinner to raise funds for the club.

The audience included supporters of the club, former players and many parents from the youth section.

Barnard Castle Rugby Club says it is always looking for new members, sponsors and players of all ages.
