Residents on standby to save lives in Ingleton

HEALTH conscious villagers turned out in force to learn how to use their new lifesaving device.

No fewer than 32 Ingleton residents attended a first aid training course at the village hall last month to help them react to emergencies and administer CPR.

Parish chairman Cllr Steve Leech said: “To have that kind of response is something to be hugely proud of.

“We now have a good number of people first aid trained and we would like to increase that over time.”

Meanwhile, parish councillors have teamed up to install a new defibrillator outside the Black Horse pub for use in emergencies.

Cllr Paul Hunton added that the defibrillator would benefit those beyond Ingleton.

He said: “Summerhouse do not have one on site and it can provide help to three villages.”

Members are also seeking village volunteers to deliver the defibrillator to households in an emergency.

Cllr Leech added: “It would be faster than the ambulance and could make the difference.”

To volunteer, go to the Ingleton Parish Council website.
