WEST Auckland missed a penalty and came from behind twice to secure a point at home to Washington at the Wanted Stadium in the Ebac Northern League first division.
All the goals were scored in the last ten minutes of what had been a pretty scrappy game until that point.
In the Crook and District League, Bowes FC ran out 5-1 winners at home to Bishop Hogans, while Glaxo Rangers led 2-0 and 3-2 away at Wolsingham before conceding an equaliser as the game finished 3-3.
Result of the afternoon came for Evenwood Town who reached the last eight of the Weardale Cup with a 4-2 away win at Crook Wanderers.
On the rugby field, it was a rare defeat for Barnard Castle in Durham/Northumberland 1.
The 13-24 reverse at the Demesnes saw Barney slip to third in the table.
