Air ambulance flying high thanks to firm's raffle

A BUILDERS merchants’ annual raffle has raised more than £800 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Customers who took part in S&A Builders Merchants' Christmas raffle stood in line to win smart tablets, Kindles, Scalextric, hampers and various other prizes.

Store manager Steve McKie said all of the 107 prizes were donated by suppliers and the raffle raised some £826.50.

He said: “We put it to all staff to pick a charity and the air ambulance got the most votes. A few years ago I was first on scene at a motorbike crash and they arrived in no time at all.”
